Mission Statement:
At St Stephen’s Church, West Bowling, we believe we are called to follow God’s call and example in Jesus Christ; to actively engage with the world in which we live.
The name given to the community outreach of St Stephen’s church is called SHINE. Shine is faith-based and exists to promote the well-being of all residents of the West Bowling, Bradford area without distinction of gender, class, sexual orientation, race or political, religious or other opinion or belief and irrespective of age and physical ability.

Around us we see: broken families and fragmented communities, ignorance and prejudice between diverse cultures and faiths
· Health and Physical wellbeing
Around us we see: alcohol/drug dependence, poor diet, lower life expectancy, high birth mortality
· Inner wellbeing
Around us we see: poor mental health, isolation, loneliness, fear and suspicion, low aspirations and self-worth, lack of spiritual wholeness
· Environmental wellbeing
Around us we see: scarcity of safe, green spaces, poor quality of living space/ surrounds, litter and waste
· Economic wellbeing
Around us we see: high unemployment, child poverty, low academic achievement, limited life choices
